Mount Gay XO: The Peat Smoke Expression marks the debut of the Master Blender series from Mount Gay. Master blender Allen Smith selected a combination of column and pot still distilled rums for this expression, which aged for 8 to 15 years in American oak. Its maturation concluded with a six-month finish in peated whisky casks from Islay. Bottled at 57% ABV, this is a limited release with only 6,120 bottles produced, 1,200 of which are allocated for the US market. It became available in October 2018.

Unlike any other rum. It's a truly peculiar spirit; the rum characteristics don't surface until the smoky element has completely faded. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience, but a liking for smoke and peat is necessary.
Good Rum, should be tasted over ice.
