Hamilton Jamaican Pot Still Gold

A very pale straw color, almost like white wine, which I suspect is artificial. My understanding is that this is the Jamaican Pot Still Black Rum from Worthy Park with reduced colorant to appeal to mixologists. A molasses-derived rum with sharp aromas of tall grass, freshly cut cane, powdered sugar, concrete, lime ash, fresh banana peel, cilantro, and oregano. On the palate, the texture becomes sweeter and more honeyed, followed by notes of cake frosting, apricot, kirschwasser, cacao, and lemon meringue. The finish is peppery and artificially sweet, with a pleasant blend of teak and grass. This is a highly debated spirit, but undoubtedly a very good one.

This rum is outstanding for its cost. Truly excellent. As a blend, it seems quite young, still possessing an underaged sharpness that causes a significant burn. However, this burn is accompanied by genuine complexity and some captivating fruity notes alongside subtle molasses/toffee undertones.

Less intense funk than the black label, but still possesses significant Jamaican character. Similar to other Hamilton expressions I've sampled, this is best suited for cocktails.

A potent banana scent, followed by a mineral finish. The fruit isn't detectable in the taste.

Requires a seasoned palate to fully appreciate. Quite distinctive.
