Nose: Oaky wood infused with vanilla, hints of coconut rum, toffee, and milk chocolate. A sharp, crisp green apple provides a refreshing tartness. Palate: A heather-like sweetness with honey and toffee are initially prominent. There's a lip-tingling spiciness from tannin and marmalade. Jammy berries and fig are also present but subtle. Finish: Medium-long. Caramel and chocolate appear first, followed by a late, lingering pepper-chilli spice. This possesses a beautiful depth of flavor, wonderfully layered with rich and complex notes. Excellent balance and mouthfeel suggest a high-quality process and product. I'm not particularly fond of the tingly spice that emerges early and concludes as a chili note, but that's a minor quibble, as this is truly wonderful stuff. (This was an exclusive release from Whisky Loot, limited to just sixty bottles. This tasting was from a 60 ml sample. It's unlikely anyone will add to this review, but I felt compelled to share this wonderful spirit!)
