About this bottle

This Overeem single malt spent at least 5 years maturing in a French-oak quarter-cask that previously held ex-sherry. The interaction with the wood imparts an intense character to the whisky. Consistent with Tasmanian whisky traditions, it is not chill-filtered. Due to limited availability, especially outside the US, purchasing this whisky when encountered is recommended.

Mollie Oldham 5.0

Oh my goodness, the aroma is incredible!! I was preserving the last of the bottle, and finally decided to have it today. I adored it the first time, and love it even more now. It's genuinely interesting to sample a spirit early in your journey before trying many other fine ones, and then revisit it years later to see if it holds up. This one does. The aroma is oranges and chocolate. And not much else. If you dislike oranges or chocolate, this won't be for you. The taste is clean, silky smooth. Dates and fig. Honey and chocolate. Wow, this is excellent. Nearly on par with the Yamazaki 18 and Macallan Fine Oak. The finish is warming, with notes of mocha and mint. Like ordering a Starbucks mochaccino followed by a thin mint. I acquired this bottle years ago on a trip to Australia. I consumed most of it during my two weeks there. I saved a small amount to bring back in a vial to prevent oxidation. It brought back memories of hiking around Uluru, diving in the Great Barrier Reef, and drinks in the Rocks area of Sydney. If you appreciate well-crafted spirits, this should be on your essential list.

Lawrence Rivers 4.3

It has leather, cinnamon, and brown sugar aromas. The taste is honey-malted milk chocolate, finishing with a pleasant, lingering peppery yet floral sensation.

Maryjane Fontaine 5.0

Without a doubt, the finest Sherry cask strength whisky I've sampled. Absolutely superb!

Jarvis Muir 1.0

Not a good value for $33 from the specified retailer in Melbourne's central business district.
