Sullivans Cove French Oak Port Cask

Cask HH0534. A magnificent symphony of well-balanced flavors and mouthfeel. Nose: Dates, figs, oranges, dark chocolate, perfume, honey, maple syrup, waffles, cherry cola, root beer, nutmeg, baking spices, bananas, toffee, pineapples, vanilla, buttercream frosting, cranberries, mulled wine. Palate: Milk chocolate, vanilla, caramel, honey, raisins, prunes, nutmeg, hazelnuts, cinnamon, lavender. Finish: Milk chocolate, vanilla, cherries, raisins, coffee, cola, Christmas cake, prunes, dates, figs.

I must say, this was one of the whiskies I was most eager to sample, and it met my expectations. Rich, spicy, fruity, and full-bodied, it delivered a powerful wave of flavors! The finish... it just kept going! Despite being only 15 years old, this whisky possesses an incredible amount of character and depth, which explains its popularity! At 47.5% ABV, it packs a punch, and perhaps a small amount of water is advised for some.

Rich, full, bold, and quintessentially Australian. It has wonderful caramel and spice, topped with Christmas pudding. I sampled batch TD 0113 at the distillery (21/4/18); if the double oak is breakfast and the American oak is lunch, this skips dinner and goes straight to dessert. I still have a bottle of HH 0376 saved for a special occasion – I can't wait.

I compare this to a bold Highland single malt. While a Highland might hold back, this one is in your face with strong flavors. You really should try it at least once.

This is a stunning whisky; it's rich, sweet, and smooth. The French oak imparts an incredible flavor and scent. The finish lingers with sweetness reminiscent of dates or dried raisins.

This is truly amazing stuff. Any Australian whisky lover absolutely needs to try it. Sadly, the excessive cost is a bit much, which is why it only gets four stars.
