About this bottle

Tobaziche agaves are easily recognized by their distinctly elongated piñas, appearing more like palm trees than typical agave plants. Wild tobaziche agaves take about 12 years to mature and can exceed 8 feet in height. Master Mescalero Adrián Bautista created this mezcal using traditional methods in Rio de Ejutla, Oaxaca.

Claire Troutman

My initial impression. I plan to compare this to a certain expression from a specific producer made from this agave type next. This exhibits a singular minerality, much like the Tepextate expression from the same distillery. My early enthusiasm for that producer seems to have faded now that I've experienced superior options. Indeed, after tasting the other producer's offering again, which is considerably better. It's more intricate, with a balance of minerality and fruit notes, and a richer texture. I'm done with that producer.
