Fidencio Clásico Mezcal

This was the very first mezcal I tasted. It was great for sipping by the campfire. Having now tried it alongside a dozen other mezcals, I find it to be flavorful but a bit harsher than I prefer. It's good for cocktails, but I'd suggest spending a bit more if you intend to sip mezcal straight.

Quite aromatic, even from a distance - in a pleasant way. It has an earthy quality without being overpowering, and is bright. On the palate, that brightness translates to lime juice (not zest) and perhaps pineapple, with a light spice, just bordering on smoky – similar to an unpeated scotch. There's no harshness, not hot, and it's very smooth.

Nose: subtle earth and smoke Palate: very mild earth and smoke followed by a spicy burn Finish: a short finish that doesn't contribute much The mezcal flavor is too weak for me, and the burn is a bit too intense for sipping. I might try it in a mixed drink later.

Agave, lime, and a touch of smokiness on the nose. Sweet agave nectar and lime, followed by hickory smoke on the finish. Like a Mexican barbecue. You can definitely perceive the alcohol, but in a pleasant way. An excellent sipping mezcal.

Smooth & Smoky. Would be excellent with tequila in mixed drinks. It was my least favorite in a tasting flight, but also had the highest alcohol by volume. Drinking it with water might have improved the experience.

I'd rate this a 3.5, but it's a very enjoyable Mezcal nonetheless. It has smokiness with notes of leather and tobacco, finishing with sweeter flavors. Perhaps caramel?
