About this bottle

The armadillo, an ancient Mexican symbol of protection, is linked to the earliest known agave spirits. This añejo tequila is produced from 100% blue weber agave, harvested after a minimum of eight years. The agave is stewed in autoclaves and then double-distilled. It matures for 18 months in 200-liter American oak barrels and is presented in a distinctive brown glass decanter with a braided rope detail at the neck.

Cindy Galvan 4.0

Consumed neat. It leaves medium-thick streaks on the glass with long legs. The aroma is bright and fruity, with notes of apple or pear hard cider, accompanied by oak, caramel, and vanilla, followed by subtle agave, earthy tones, and green herbs. The taste begins bright with a slight warmth. Flavors of caramel, musty oak, vanilla, and lightly cooked fruity agave make a prominent appearance, along with hot cinnamon and milk chocolate. Fresh green herbs or mint leaf notes emerge later. The finish is sweet, oaky, and spicy, with the sweet oak lingering for a considerable duration. It is well-balanced. The oak aging notes still allow much of the blanco's brightness to come through. It's sweet, but not excessively rich or syrupy. Similar to the blanco, I felt slightly underwhelmed upon the initial pour of a new bottle, but it became noticeably more complex and interesting after some exposure to air. The flavor profile is distinctive. There's a tangy, cider-like acidity that adds a brightness to the otherwise rich flavors, which I appreciate. It's worth trying, the bottle is cool, but it's a bit expensive given that there are some very good alternatives available for a little less.
