Purchased in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It has a lovely amber color and a liquid that gives off sweet agave aromas, along with hints of caramel, cocoa, and blueberry. A touch of vanilla is in the background, with a sensation of American whiskey wood and a cinnamon stick. On the palate, caramelized agave is present over a slightly darkened wood base, with some red spices, small fruits, and cocoa. A long finish features agave and wood flavors with a slight honeyed character. It has a nice mouthfeel and is undeniably very smooth for a tequila, with the alcohol taste well integrated.

An elegant agave spirit from Mexico, aged in small French oak barrels for over 12 months, with a portion aged in American oak for 3 years. It presents an aromatic beginning with hints of agave, earth, wood, fruits, herbs, and spices. A rich and zesty middle layer reveals notes of toasted agave, caramel, and orange peels, leading to a complex, medium-length finish. (May 2017)
The bottle, label, and dark caramel hue are visually appealing. I detect nice vanilla, spice, and caramel notes, along with a faint vegetal characteristic that almost resembles plastic. While I don't dislike vegetal notes, having it so prominent in the aroma and finish seems unusual for a matured Añejo.
A concentrated, sweet vegetal agave taste, bordering on burnt. It's a straightforward profile, yet superior to many. It reminds me of Don Julio Anejo, likely sweeter. If only it were obtainable for me to sample. Priced at $50 in Ontario.
I found it rather muted, lacking complexity and depth on the palate. The aroma was surprisingly pleasant, and the flavors improved when served on ice.
Brown sugar, molasses, vanilla, and Mexican chocolate are present on the nose and palate. It's rich, semi-sweet, and velvety with a silky finish. I am very pleased with this.
