About this bottle

Sophie Decobecq, master distiller at Calle 23, is among the few women in Mexico's male-dominated spirits industry. The brand's philosophy centers on creating "smart tequila" sourced from the Jalisco Highlands (Los Altos), employing a meticulous selection of yeasts and traditional techniques. This añejo is twice distilled in stainless steel pot-stills and aged for 16 months in former bourbon casks.

Alonzo Ruiz 3.0

This is peculiar. It presents tequila characteristics alongside sweet dessert corn flavors, cocoa, popcorn, and toasted bread pudding, with very subtle tropical fruits. Then, rye notes quickly dominate with a strong, bitter finish and chemical undertones. Perhaps European oak wouldn't pair as well with tequila.
