Chinaco Reposado Tequila

This is a decent reposado, but it seems a bit expensive for what you get. The aroma was of agave and a bit leathery. Upon tasting, it does indeed present notes of chocolate and vanilla, aligning with the official assessment. A hint of the agave comes through on the finish, but it's quite brief. I often find reposados occupy a strange middle ground, lacking the depth of añejos or the punch of blancos, and this one fits that description. However, Chinaco's unique history and status as the sole Tequila producer in Tamaulipas make it a worthwhile addition to any Tequila enthusiast's collection.

Served neat. It has a lovely golden straw hue and leaves long legs. The nose offers cooked agave, distinct minerals and earth, grass, oak, light smoke, fruit, a touch of vanilla, citrus, and pepper. The taste includes cooked agave, brine, pepper, oak, caramel, butterscotch, vanilla, and cinnamon. The finish is dry, sweet, and slightly bitter with oak tannins, vanilla, citrus peel, and black pepper. A delicious and distinctive tequila, recommended for connoisseurs, collectors, or those seeking something different. The price is only marginally justifiable for regular consumption.

Surprisingly smooth. Makes a great margarita.
