About this bottle

3 Badge Mixology holds ownership, production, and distribution rights for the Pasote Tequila brand. Master Distiller Felipe Camarena employs traditional methods to transform 100% blue weber agave, harvested from Jalisco's Los Altos (Highlands) region, into tequila. Pasote Tequila Añejo undergoes an 18-month aging process in barrels that previously held bourbon. The spirit is bottled at 40% ABV and contains no additives.

It smells of mint and earth with a whisper of chili spice. The taste is quite minty with a sharp spiciness that persists with an oily texture. There's an interesting vegetal and herbal quality here without excessive bitterness. A touch of fruity sweetness emerges, with orange and perhaps cherry notes. The umami is appreciated, though there are more mineral notes than desired. The eventual strong bitterness and alcohol make it difficult to drink. A significant amount of vanilla is detectable, though not necessarily in a positive way. Light sweet syrup combines with minerals and mild herbal and earthy notes, along with some spice, a hint of licorice, a touch of smoke, and a prevalent stewed agave character. A strong presence of mint, leaning towards spearmint, is noticeable. It bears resemblance to Arta Anejo. More complexity and richness would have been welcome. There is some umami and oiliness present, however.

Another excellent tequila from the Camarenas. Very smooth with notes of sweet and earthy roasted and cooked agave, hints of s'mores, pepper, and caramel.

The color comes naturally from barrel aging. Flavors include melon, vanilla, and caramel, with subtle smoke and festive spices.

Eden Ledbetter 4.8

Smooth. Warming. Luxurious. Vanilla. Honey. Slightly peppery. Delightful!

This is a very simple and clear aroma, with hints of vanilla and sweet wood. It also has a pleasant sweetness and a subtle oak presence.
