This distillery is tied to the history of Salinas/MG, the cachaça capital, starting production in 1950 under Deli Alves Rocha. In 1988, the dedication to cachaça, passed down through generations, materialized when Ailton Fernandes established Cachaça Meia Lua. Through diligent work, always aiming for superior quality, he elevated the brand's standing in Brazil. At the close of 2019, new owners purchased Cachaça Meia Lua, rebranding it as Meia Lua Destilaria. The distillery now offers various cachaças and continues its pursuit of excellence with a modern approach. This specific spirit is handcrafted in small batches using copper stills. It's an elegant mix of American Oak with two distinct toasts, incorporating French Oak tradition, the unique character of Amburana from Brazil, and the unexpected notes of Eucalyptus with a subtle hint of Sassafras cinnamon. Bottled at 40% alcohol, this is a limited run of 620 individually numbered bottles, released to commemorate the 5th anniversary of Unna WS Cachaça. It undergoes a dual aging process: three years in virgin American Oak barrels, followed by two years in French Oak, Amburana, Eucalyptus, and Sassafras Cinnamon. Finally, this distinct blend is matured for an additional two years in Port wine barrels. Found at Cachaçaria Nacional.
