About this bottle

The Reserva Especial, a limited-edition aged cachaça, expands upon Maison Leblon's popular initial offering, which is rested in XO cognac casks for up to six months. This unique distillate undergoes aging for up to two years in new Limousin French oak casks before being blended by Master Distiller Gilles Merlet.

Leblon cachaça, produced in Patos Minas, in the state of Minas Gerais, has an office in New York and has been under the ownership of the Bacardi group for several years, who also acquired Banks rum. Prior to Bacardi's acquisition, Leblon was recognized internationally. Although cachaça is distinctly Brazilian, Leblon is a premium product created by an American, Steve Luttmann, specifically for export. The majority of its sales are directed to the United States, Europe, Asia, and Oceania. Currently, the brand is available in 35 countries, including Brazil. Leblon Reserva Especial is the producer's flagship product. This premium cachaça is made from carefully selected, high-quality sugar cane, distilled in copper stills, and aged in French oak barrels. Leblon Reserva Especial is an iconic cachaça that showcases the best of production and aging in French oak barrels previously used for XO Cognac from France. The result is a cachaça with notes of tropical fruits, caramel, vanilla, and spices. Sensory profile: amber color, complex aromas, caramel notes, dried fruits, honey, spices, vanilla, well-integrated alcohol, elegant, and a prolonged finish. Note: The bottle is only 375ml (standard cachaça bottles are 750ml), making it less expensive...lol.

Reynaldo Powell 4.0

A cachaça tasting session with friends. My initial encounter with this wonderful spirit. My tasting impressions: Fruity, vanilla, spicy, woody, potent, smoky, coating, licorice, and a lengthy finish.
