The nose is strongly reminiscent of sultana, dried Christmas pudding, and fruitcake. It has a very syrupy/oily texture on the palate, with a potent hit of peat/smoke that evolves into an oaky, peppery spice. The finish is long and dry, with the sweetness of fruitcake and a hint of cocoa/chocolate balancing the persistent peatiness. The peated character is well-matched by the Port cask, containing all the elements I appreciate in a whiskey. It's my favorite Australian dram.
