West Cork Cask Strength Irish Whiskey

Absolutely superb, particularly for fifty bucks. I wish this could be purchased in the US! Smell: A pleasingly robust aroma for an Irish whiskey, which I generally find to be more subtle. The graham cracker and malty grain are instantly noticeable, alongside floral notes and a pleasant, substantial, oaky chocolate that emerges. The aroma builds high expectations, which the taste fulfills. Taste: Honey and amazing toasted graham crackers dominate, with vanilla and deep sweetness following closely. It's akin to a complete s'mores, concluding with a hint of slightly bitter baking chocolate. The taste is truly magnificent and stands out strongly, even with the alcohol. A lovely hue suggests some maturity, but the high alcohol content (62 percent is probably near the initial proof) indicates it might be younger than it seems. Nevertheless, it offers abundant classic flavors, from the graham crackers and honey to faint hints of delicate hay. The aftertaste persists for an extended period, as anticipated given the proof, and somewhat surprisingly for its likely youth. There's a slight warmth from potstill spices and bourbon barrel oak, but the graham crackers and rich malty flavor are what truly linger. Overall, this is a fantastic bargain. If I had access to it in the states, I'd buy a case for backup. The price-to-quality ratio is incredible, but more fundamentally, it's simply a delightful drink. With a bit more aging and perhaps non-chill filtration, it would be truly exceptional. This will suffice until I can obtain some of the highly praised Blue Spot.

The aroma is mostly ethanol, but the body is exceptionally rich compared to most Irish whiskeys. It performs very well. It's creamy and rich, coating the palate. This offers an interesting contrast to the light grain flavors. It's likely my top Irish pick to date because I consistently prefer the bolder ones.

I spent about two weeks in Ireland last year and likely drank an excessive amount of whiskey. No, no, the correct amount. The only drawback to this whiskey is its scarcity in the United States. It's fantastic, but it does benefit from a small addition of water. It is 62% alcohol.

Tried this a while ago. Not much on the nose. Sweet, floral, and creamy in the mouth. Long finish. It improved as the bottle neared empty. Very drinkable and smooth despite the high ABV. Very good.

The nose has a floral scent with an underlying hint of apple juice. The palate starts spicy and bold, transitioning to apple and light oak flavors. It's very good, but not aged long enough to be exceptional.
