This limited edition mezcal, with only 400 bottles produced, is a vegan alternative to pechuga mezcal. Instead of a raw chicken breast, it incorporates organic heirloom apples native to Oaxaca, added to the still before the second distillation.

Nose: the apple comes through distinctly! Bright, fruity, smoky. Palate: good, solid vegetal agave, subtly tart, strong yet smooth smoke. Mid-palate tastes of apple and fruit. Some apple skin notes are present too. A bit of minerality and a hint of plasticine/Play-Doh. Finish: longer than expected for a clear spirit! Sharp smoke.
The alcohol taste is too strong. I expected smokiness, but it lacks complexity and other notes.
