Torres Jaime I Reserva de la Familia

A distinguished brandy from Bodegas Torres. Established in 1870 by Jaime Torres Vendrell, it began as one of Spain's leading wineries, though the family had cultivated grapes in the region for over a century prior. The designation "30" indicates the average age of the brandies in this blend, and "Jaime" honors the founder. It greets the senses with hints of grape, coconut, dried cherry, and spice. The body introduces floral notes, fig, and tobacco, leading to an extended, velvety finish with undertones of vanilla, nuts, and almond. This was tasted in January, May, and November of 2018.

One of the most distinctive and attractive presentations for a box and bottle, which is surprising considering the price of €70. The aroma is absolutely incredible; dried fruits, figs, red berries, and oak jump out of the glass. The flavor follows suit, adding extra complexity with just the right amount of baking spices. The finish is respectable, especially for being only 76 proof. I'm amazed at how good and bold a 76 proof spirit can be! It would easily be a 5 if the proof were slightly higher, as the finish is medium length.

I'm a whiskey drinker, but I'm always looking for different flavors and experiences. This brandy is amazing, wonderful, it's very easy to drink and offers a unique flavor experience. Highly recommend.

Oak, spices, dark chocolate, grapes, tobacco, pepper. It's decent, but you're mainly paying for the fancy bottle design.

Amazing. Tropical coconuts, sweet, and spicy. It has a very long finish. Comparable to many cognacs and armagnacs.

Very smooth. Plenty of flavor. Warm and welcoming. A touch of sweetness.
