About this bottle

Sánchez Romate, the owner of the parent company of Cardenal Mendoza brandy, was originally a sherry producer. Brandy distillation for personal use began in 1887, with commercial sales commencing due to public interest. This brandy undergoes aging in a solera system using barrels that previously contained Pedro Ximenez sherry, a sweet fortified wine. The average age of the spirits in this bottling's solera is 30 years.

A rich Brandy from Sánchez Romate Distillery in Cadiz, Spain, aged for at least 25 years in ex-Sherry casks using the solera system. The initial barrels were filled in 1981 to commemorate the bodega's bicentennial, but the first bottling wasn't until the turn of the century. It has an aromatic beginning with notes of plum, sultanas, and must; a rich development adds notes of dates, blackberry preserve, figs, caramel, walnuts, and old leather; leading to a thick and off-dry finish of medium length with hints of dried herbs and Sherry.
