Tamworth Distilling's Steven Grasse developed Eau de Musc, a whiskey infused with castoreum, a secretion from beaver castor sacs historically used as a flavoring and in perfumes. This infusion transforms Tamworth's 88-proof, two-year-old Chocorua straight bourbon whiskey into the "water of musk." This limited edition is offered in 200ml bottles.

Nose: For someone who traps, this has a distinct musk of castor, but it's not too strong. Plenty of maple and a touch of brown sugar. Palate: It's almost a "musky" taste, with maple, vanilla, and a whisper of "breakfast" notes, reminiscent of bacon fat. Finish: Quite smooth, with a menthol touch appearing later on the tongue.
Initially bitter, this beaver sac truly opens up if you allow your perception to do the same. Notes of grain, clove, and even sour berries appear. It's young and it's evident, but at this proof and volume, it's all about the experience and originality. Get it. It provides a fun change of pace for the palate.
Hint of raspberry at the start, birch-like, oily, and warm throughout, distinct flavor.
