About this bottle

Stauning describes their Young Rye as "too young to be a whisky," yet claims it possesses a maturity that is surprising. This expression is made from grain grown in Denmark, including malted rye and a small quantity of barley, and is twice distilled in traditional pot stills. It is not offered in the US.

Pierre Reynoso 4.0

The same inventiveness that makes Danish design so sought-after is fully present here. If tasted without knowing what it was, I would have guessed it was a bourbon by its creamy nose, and a spicier bourbon/rye blend by its body. The important thing is that it all harmonizes beautifully, much like the design of a B&O speaker. My sample was three years old, remarkably smooth, and had a lot of caramel in the finish.

Stephanie Somers 3.8

This youthful rye is a decent dram, but doesn't quite measure up to other whiskies from the same distillery. It's young, quite fresh, and full-bodied, carrying the characteristic floral and slightly spicy notes found in all their whiskies.

Zachariah Bunn 4.3

Distilled February 2018: Rich, oily, with abundant rye that evolves into something akin to grappa before a powerful finish. Rated 90.

Celina Rinehart 5.0

Imagine rye coated in caramel. A Danish concept executed with Scottish quality standards. A must-try!

John Wilburn 4.0

Spicy, licorice, a bit smooth, delicious! Different, but good

Patsy Pedraza 4.0

A young rye, yet smoother than most!
