Jefferson's introduced its initial, very limited batch of Ocean Aged at Sea bourbon in August 2012, with only 300 bottles available. This third release, from October 2014, offered a larger quantity, around 300 barrels instead of individual bottles. Each batch varies in its time spent aging in barrels and at sea, as well as its proof. The sourced bourbon is first matured on land for six years, then spends an additional six months at sea, circumnavigating five continents and crossing the equator four times before bottling.

This is for Voyage 23. The flavor profile is somewhat limited. Some spice masks a bit of sweetness, but identifying specific notes is difficult. The taste remains consistent throughout. Not impressed, particularly for $80 a bottle.
The aroma is faint. Quite smooth, however, with a slight kick as it goes down. It has a smoky character with hints of cinnamon and peanut. I detect some vanilla as well. I don't really perceive the fruity notes others mention. A pleasant drink for sipping, and I would purchase it again.
The aroma has notes of vanilla and oak, and bourbon, naturally. While bourbon isn't usually my preference, I do appreciate Jefferson's Ocean. It's likely because the bourbon character isn't overly intense. Ratings are for sipping neat.
There's a faint whiff of seaweed on the aroma, but little else. The flavor is rather underwhelming. Perhaps that's from its time at the bottom of a vessel. I agree with those who think this is a gimmick.
Wonderfully balanced. Easy to sip neat or with one ice cube. Mellow spice, warm wood, and a slight peachy character, with a touch of saltiness. Almost like salted caramel, but with alcohol. Quite pleasing!
Smells of salted caramel. The taste and finish are salty, perhaps influenced by suggestion. Minimal heat throughout, indicating the effect of aging. Hints of black pepper and thyme are present. Caramel notes persist to the finish. Excellent.
