About this bottle

Imported from a Mexican distillery by Seattle-based Black Rock Spirits, this tequila is made from 100% blue weber agave. It rests for 8 months in oak barrels before being bottled at 80 proof. The "El Burro Sparkalo" brand was introduced in September 2012, and this reposado tequila has received multiple accolades since its launch.

I had low expectations when a companion offered this, but it proves you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Nose: Huh? Is that cotton candy? Seriously, why does this smell like cotton candy? Taste: It has that caramel and maple sweetness you wouldn't expect for the cost. Yet, the smoky agave flavor is still present. This is certainly a spirit worth savoring.

I don't usually drink tequila, but I had a fair amount when I worked at a bar that stocked nearly everything imaginable across all price points. If I were to buy tequila, it would be Sparkle Donkey. The only distinct flavor I detected was similar to cotton candy. This is fantastic.

Imagine if a colonial musket was made of Sparkle Donkey Reposado. The smooth vanilla and maple flavors are like the gunpowder packed inside. Aim this at your foes and convert them into your allies.

A robust Agave Spirit from NOM 1438 in Jalisco, Mexico. It begins aromatically with notes of caramel and oak; a balanced middle layer introduces agave and spice notes, leading to a rich and complex finish of medium duration.

Rated #1 of 18 Reposados by a cocktail group (some 3x the price) in a blind taste test in 2015.

What in the world, haha - how can this be tequila? Tastes like cotton candy mixed with grain alcohol... with a hint of caramel also.
