Anthony Mohr 5.0

An aged Mezcal that's truly something else. A group selected this cask and two others in Oaxaca last year, and this one bursts with berries, cherries, chocolate, maple syrup, honey, and a wide array of dark and tropical fruits. It has just enough vegetal cooked agave character to keep you grounded in its mezcal identity. It bears some resemblance to aged tequilas like Don Alberto, Codigo Origen, and Tears of Llorona. While this is very pleasant, I find that Nom 1146 tequilas such as Tears of Llorona, Don Fulano Imperial, Tres Cuatro Cinco, and Fuenteseca achieve a higher level by effectively balancing barrel aging with the cooked agave essence. Nose: Cooked Agave, Honey, Cantaloupes, Pineapples, Papayas, Milk Chocolate, Morello Cherries, Kiwis, Pears, Raspberries, Figs, Maple Syrup, Passion Fruit, Quince Jam Palate: Cooked Agave, Raisins, Plums, Dark Chocolate, Toffee, Butterscotch, Mocha, Maple Syrup, Smoke, Honey, Treacle, Hazelnuts, Almonds, Leather, Cookie Dough Finish: Blackcurrants, Cooked Agave, Black Cherries, Peaches, Lavender, Elderflower, Wild Flowers, Vanilla, Cookie Dough, Maple Syrup, Ginger, Blood Oranges, Milk Chocolate, Mocha
