Douglas Laing & Co. offers Scallywag whisky in a cask strength edition, bottled at 53.6% alcohol by volume. The distinctive packaging portrays the familiar "cheeky wee rascal" character, this time with an astonished expression and his monocle dislodged, as if experiencing the impact of his namesake cask strength bottling. This limited edition release, restricted to 6,000 bottles, became available in June 2015.

Quick Review. It's lighter and delicate, nicely balanced, and requires minimal water to reveal its flavor. It clearly comes from heavily reused refill casks, as you have to work hard to extract much flavor initially. Hints of light gingerbread. A short, unusual finish. Overall, quite decent.
