About this bottle

The Sazerac Company has brought back the Sazerac de Forge & Fils Cognac brand, which vanished in the 19th century after the Phylloxera epidemic devastated French grapevines. This release aims to replicate the original cognac. For the Finest Original Cognac expression, the youngest component is 7 years old, with the oldest distilled in the 1960s. It is bottled at 94 proof without chill-filtration. It will be exclusively sold at the Sazerac House in New Orleans, opening October 2, 2019, with limited global availability starting in spring 2020.

Alexus Meek 5.0

Bright, with fruit and a touch of botanicals, plus fragrant blossoms on the aroma. The taste is robust, ample, and possesses a profound, somewhat earthy quality that really highlights the grape notes. Very different from the typical cognacs found in North America, this bottling presents a distinctive personality that can only be called fascinatingly place-based. To get the most from this spirit, allow it some air before tasting. A genuinely remarkable bottling that restores a flavor profile previously only accessible to a select group.

Hugo Weathers 3.8

Tasted without dilution. The aroma presented citrus, white wine, and authentic grape notes, as if freshly picked. The palate offered citrus and white wine, concluding with a citrus finish reminiscent of a fine beer, if that analogy works.

Dennis Spence 3.8

Citrus, grapes, grass, fennel, oak, and toast on the nose. Sweet with a light peppery character, featuring grape, wood, vanilla, and white pepper.

Tiara Reagan 4.3

Pleasant and delicious. I detect the butterscotch taste and easy drinking nature

Easton Snider 3.5

flavor: lively, bright, citrusy
