Sadler's Peaky Blinder Irish Whiskey

The nose is exceptionally appealing, starting with a nice creamy chocolate scent, rich vanilla, and some gooseberries. It's very creamy and buttery. Hints of chocolate fudge and an intriguing peppery spice, along with cocoa powder and banana notes. It evokes banana ice cream and freshly baked brownies with sweet cooked bananas. The palate features creamy vanilla, a slightly thin texture, and remarkable smoothness that allows for prolonged enjoyment. There's a touch of oak spice, marshmallow, and a subtle maize presence. It's very easy to drink, though not complex. The finish is brief and direct, yet effective, with a pleasant wood smoke and a slightly grainy character. Overall, this was a highly unexpected whiskey. The nose was so impressive it earned a perfect score. The palate is enjoyable, and the finish, while short, is satisfying. A score of 84 out of 100 for an inexpensive Irish whiskey is quite surprising and very good.

I was highly impressed with this affordable Irish blend after purchasing some bottles from 2019. The sherry cask influence was excellent. Those bottles were sealed with black wax. Months later, I bought a restyled bottle from May 2020, without the wax. Despite assurances it was the same spirit, it was drastically different and practically undrinkable. I suspect even a cola wouldn't mask its unpleasantness. Trying a second bottle purchased by a friend elsewhere confirmed it contained the same awful liquid. Avoid this so-called whiskey unless you can find an older bottle with the wax seal!

This Peaky Blinder Blended Irish Whiskey could be the worst I've ever had. They say there's blackcurrant and apple in there, but the smell and taste are so disgusting, it's almost like drinking sewer water. I'm not sure if I got a bad bottle or if the whole thing is just terrible; I lean towards the latter. If you want a decent blended Irish, go with Jameson. I'm annoyed because I tried Peaky Blinder at a pub once and liked it, so I bought a bottle. Turns out the pub had a Sherry cask version; the bottle I purchased was aged in Bourbon casks (and looked different too). Sadly, in the Netherlands, you can only find the Bourbon cask version right now.

Better than I anticipated. I initially thought it was a cheap whiskey trying to capitalize on the Peaky Blinders name, but it's quite pleasant. It's not outstanding, but at least it doesn't feel like a rip-off.

It possesses a somewhat artificial flavor profile. Nose: Quite fruity, but that's the extent of it. Palate: Dark fruits and sweet rubber. It fades quickly. You get what you pay for at this price point.

Nose: Unremarkable and faint. Taste: Smooth, yet uninteresting. Finish: A slow finish that concludes with a sweetness not detected in the nose or taste.
