A robust agave spirit from Rosaluna Distillery NOM-O02X in Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca, Mexico, crafted from Espadin agave that is hand-picked after eight years of aging. It's roasted underground, milled, fermented, and twice distilled. It begins fruity with notes of citrus, tropical fruit, pineapple & pear; its rich & spicy middle adds notes of roasted agave, caramel, spice, ginger & cinnamon; leading to a long, strong & smooth end with a hint of smoke & earth. Clear. Intense pepper, earthy notes. Gentle smoke, minerality, lime-like citrus. Medium-light body, refreshing, slight warmth. Enjoyable, straightforward, approachable mezcal.
Not very smoky, a bit bland, soft, and smooth – not my preference for a mezcal. Seems a bit diluted. Avoid it.
