An intriguing pour. It presents as a dram of two distinct parts. The nose has notes of marzipan/Christmas cake icing, honey, vanilla, and a whisper of green apple. The palate expands on this with a slight spiciness and burnt caramel oakiness. Initially, I perceived it as a metallic, plasticky, ethanol bitterness, which becomes more prominent in the aftertaste, unfortunately detracting from the nose's appeal. It's difficult to rate. I've given it 3.5 stars, but it would have scored higher without the aftertaste. I'm slightly disappointed given the distillery's reputation.
