Lark Single Malt Single Cask

In the Glass: Pale gold color. On the Nose: Woody spice. A sweet brown sugar note with a "breakfast-like" character. Not quite maple syrup, but it's in that ballpark. Dried fruit. I haven't encountered a whisky quite like this before, actually. I don't have anything readily comparable to it (which is a very positive thing). Taste: Whatever casks these producers are using, they're doing an excellent job. There's no age statement on the bottle, but it doesn't taste particularly young. The spirit and the wood integrate slowly and harmoniously, then develop over a long period. More of that wood spice, leading to a palate-drying finish. Lingering cinnamon and dried fruit notes. Great product! Definitely worth the $25 for the 200ml bottle I acquired. Hopefully, spirits from Tasmania become more widely available and affordable in the United States.

I sampled this dram recently and found its flavor profile comparable to Highland malt Scotch. It's rich, fruity, with pleasant spice and wood notes. The finish is brief and dry. It's worth purchasing a bottle if you don't mind spending $150.

Cask LD 57. Bottled in August 2008. Appears amber with good viscosity. Aroma: Sweet. Notes of honey and toffee. Taste: Pleasant warmth. Silky texture. Sweetness reminiscent of biscuits and malt. Flavors of honey and oak. Tastes like barley sugar. Intense. Score: 9. Sampled in June 2010.

An exceptional Scotch, a must-try. Among the superior Tasmanians, which elevated the benchmark for Scotch.

Slightly peaty with a strong finish.

Hints of malt and it's easy to consume.
