About this bottle
Mackey's Distillery is located in one of Tasmania's oldest suburbs and was founded in 2007 by Damian Mackey. Mackey's interest in whisky originated in the early 1990s while he was working as a surveyor for Bill Lark, recognized as the pioneer of Australian whisky. Mackey Single Malt is crafted in an unpeated, triple-distilled style, reminiscent of Irish whiskey, and is aged for six years in 100-liter port casks. It was the sole Irish-style offering from Tasmania at the time of this writing. In early 2016, Mackey intends to relocate his operations to Shene Estate in Pontville, Tasmania, where he will continue his whisky production. This tasting was conducted using bottle 24 of 125 from cask 001 and is exclusively available in Australia.
