I discussed some of this distillery's operations and spirits previously in my review for their Automatic Halfshell Gin, so I will not repeat that here. This was the third gin I sampled at the distillery that night. Again, this is a brief review as public tastings are not ideal for detailed notes. This is a gin made from a brandy base, which adds another layer of complexity and a richer mouthfeel. It's apparently named because recipe number 5 was the preferred choice from a series of experiments. It is crafted with juniper, coriander, cardamom, bitter orange, lemon, and other undisclosed botanicals. This is a delightful, easy-drinking gin with prominent juniper and citrus notes. I'm unsure if grapefruit is among the botanicals, but I definitely detected grapefruit flavors in the citrus blend. I immediately wanted to make a gin and tonic with a grapefruit garnish using this. While I strive to rate without considering price, it's hard to find fault with a local, craft gin this pleasant and for around $25. 4.0 ~ Great
