Ned Australian Whisky

Nose: sweet - vanilla, honey, some spice Palate: light - dried fruits, aged leather, tobacco, oaky notes Finish: short - sharp with a slightly bitter ending This is not a single malt. Nor is it very bourbon-like, despite the mash bill. I rate it a 'meh' overall.

Excellent as an inexpensive yet satisfactory mixer; it lacks any strong iodine, peat, or smoke characteristics; the alcohol content stands up well in coffee (and a White Russian, thank you very much); it has enough sweetness that simple syrup isn't needed; it can be consumed straight in a pinch.

A pleasing harmony between the oak and the qualities derived from the sour mash process. I'm not a huge bourbon enthusiast, but this one is comfortably balanced.

A sweeter spirit, with a bourbon-like sensation. Glad to keep it in my collection.
