Muff Irish Whiskey

The nose is weak and sharp, mostly turpentine with just a hint of cereal grain and smoke. The palate is virtually the same - thin, bitter, dry, with cereal grains and a wisp of smoke. The finish is hot and dry. You could politely call it black pepper, but it would be the kind found in paper envelopes from a cheap late-night carryout order three years ago, recovered from the back of the silverware drawer. This is only suitable for mixing, and with regular Jameson already fulfilling that role for a much lower price, I just don't see a useful niche for this. Dollar for dollar, Black Barrel and Black Bush are comparable in cost but vastly superior. I suppose if you need whisky for an Irish coffee, and you happen to be in the one liquor store in the world that doesn't stock Jameson or Bushmills, this would suffice.
