I appreciate their willingness to experiment with different finishes for their whiskies (cider cask, rum cask), and this particular one – the 15-year-old Trilogy – is a blend of spirits aged in bourbon, oloroso sherry, and rum casks. My main criticism of this expression is its reduction to the minimum legal ABV of 40%. While everything about it is pleasant and easy to drink, it lacks real depth. It presents a bright, fresh, and clean fruity scent. The flavor is very nice but lacks distinct character. There are some subtle fruit notes, light spice, and soft vanilla. It's mildly fruity and sweet with a very pleasant taste, but nothing truly stands out. The finish mirrors the taste – pleasant but brief. Notes of red fruits, light clove spice, and a hint of warmth. This is a challenging one for me because it's genuinely nice and smooth. I believe the age is evident despite the dilution to 40% ABV... I've had many lesser whiskies at 40% that still have a strong alcohol burn, which isn't the case here. As much as I enjoy this, I find it difficult to justify the price. It was close to $80, and I can confidently say that the Tullamore DEW Phoenix is significantly better and costs $20 less. Tullamore DEW 15 Trilogy is a really good whiskey, and if you have the disposable income, feel free to purchase it – it's certainly tasty, but it's also a bit unexciting. The combination of being watered down and the price point is what concerns me. If it were priced appropriately and bottled at 46-50% ABV, I would likely give it a much higher rating. Unbelievable, a blend?!! Do the people who give these 4 stars also appreciate the finest scotch single malt? I can understand if you've sampled some of the less expensive Irish blends, you might be a bit surprised, but believe me. This is a delightful drink for late at night when you're not quite ready for a peaty Islay or Jura, but not yet in the mood for a Mcallan Fine Oak or Aberlour Abunadh. A friend's description is spot-on, and if you enjoy Special K Red-Berries, you'll detect a delicious hint of that cereal! (Do you ever secretly eat a bowl of Red Berries when your partner's asleep watching a sci-fi movie?) Quite pleasant - I'd rate it 3.5 stars, but it earns an extra half for its long, complex warming finish, holding its own against Speysiders and serving as a great start before you move on to the more robust options, whether a Macallan 18 or Glenfarclas 21. Highly recommended, my friends, and please don't hold me accountable!:-)

The green tea and plum are subtle; the body of the spirit isn't lost, and the cask finishes are quite pleasant, guiding your palate. It wasn't perfect straight. In my limited attempts, about half a cube of water for a small tumbler yielded the best results. A generous tumbler pour over 1.5 cubes with a teaspoon of a liqueur brought out all the cask influences wonderfully. I'm leaning towards a 4, but perhaps 3.75, as another person suggested, is more accurate. A score of 3.5 out of 5 is also conceivable. It's distinctive, it's the brand, it's refined Irish craftsmanship. Not something to hoard, but a bottle I certainly appreciated.

Nose: An almond-like creaminess comes first, followed by raisin and vanilla with a hint of cinnamon and fruit. This is one of the most pleasing aromas I've experienced. Palate: It begins with an almost imperceptible nutty almond start, very oily, and vanilla follows. The vanilla lingers on the silky-smooth finish. Overall: It's comparable to Redbreast 15. It lacks a little depth and complexity, but that's not necessarily a negative given how pleasant the overall experience is.

I believe the flavor and scent have been thoroughly described by others, so I'll focus on my experience. I was undecided between a 4.5 or 5-star rating when I recalled purchasing this. After finishing my first sample, I immediately poured another and stayed with it all evening instead of switching to another spirit. Having just one now to write this review, I'm reminded to purchase the 14 & 18 year Single Malts from Tullamore DEW.

The nose is rich with fruit and shortbread notes, reminiscent of a boozy marionberry pie. The palate features dark fruit, oak spice, and vanilla. The flavors are distinct, though pinpointing some of the specific notes is challenging. It definitely emphasizes the malt/pot still character, with only subtle grainy notes appearing, mostly on the finish. A fantastic pour!
