Mezcal Alipús San Luis del Rio

Compared to another mezcal, I prefer this one. Both spirits offer strong, intense, and smoky characteristics. Neither spirit is particularly complex or balanced. However, they both perform well for their cost. I perceive this particular one as having a bit more natural sweetness and depth. Still, a minor discordant note prevents it from reaching true excellence. Crafting a compelling cocktail with it also proved somewhat challenging for me. Therefore, it's a good spirit generally, but not outstanding as a standalone drink or in cocktails. Overall, this is the type of mezcal to savor with companions around a campfire. And you will certainly enjoy it:)

The nose is lovely, clear, and fresh. Intensely smoky with a pronounced woodiness. The smoke is bright rather than charred or tar-like. The taste is bright and clean with pine and underlying citrus sweetness. The finish has a slight bitterness but is not overly long.

The nose presents smoke, ash, green vegetation, guava, minerals, and lime. The palate has char and ash, sugar, and green bell pepper. A peppery finish. It's less intense but well-balanced.

Moderate, with a slight, distinct alcohol aftertaste.
