From End of Days Distillery, Wilmington, NC. Made with 100% corn, distilled six times, infused with butterfly pea flower extract and 14 botanicals, bottled at 41% ABV. Appears as a beautiful translucent purple-lavender liquid with strong coating legs in the glass. The aroma presents citrus, juniper, and pine, with citrus lingering. The taste begins with a thin chemical flavor, some juniper, and citrus in the background. Dry, exotic spices and floral notes emerge, and then the gin concludes with spices and a very short finish--unexpected given the coating legs in the glass. It looks nice and mixes acceptably in a cocktail (changing color with acid), but it doesn't truly stand out, even with soda in a Tom Collins. The base spirit's flavors are weak, undefined, and disappointing. I am comparing it to Empress 1908 Indigo Gin.

This is a fantastic gin. The Butterfly Pea Flower Infusion gives it a blue tint that shifts to Purple or Pink when mixed with citrus. It has all the standard flavors of their regular gin plus floral notes. Everyone enjoyed the "Luna French 75's" I made the other day (1 oz each Luna Gin/Lemon Juice/Simple Syrup topped with 2-3 oz. Prosecco). Released in small batches, it's difficult to find, but if you're near the distillery or a New Hanover County ABC, it's definitely worth getting if you spot it.
