Aromatics offer potent earthy notes alongside hints of pineapple, citrus zest, stone fruit, floral undertones, cereal, and a notable alcohol presence. On the tongue, it presents a vibrant, sharp herbaceousness mixed with underripe pineapple, lemon rind, and a medicinal minty quality. The lingering finish is substantial and viscous, featuring assertive agave and vegetal flavors, artificial sweetener, bland vanilla, spice, and a moderate alcohol burn. Fortunately, a smaller bottle size was offered as this particular tepeztate expression falls short. Considering the cost of a standard-sized bottle, superior alternatives exist at comparable or lesser prices. Knowing tepeztate is among the most mature and costly agaves to procure, I anticipate a higher caliber of spirit.
