Kilbrin Sherry Cask Finish

A well-balanced Irish Whiskey from the Barony of Duhallow in County Cork, Ireland. It was distilled in copper pot stills using 100% local Heirloom Barley and pure Irish spring water. It was then aged in ex-Bourbon barrels and ex-Oloroso casks before being bottled at 40% ABV. It greets you with an aromatic profile of grain, fruit, and spice. The taste is delicate, with notes of barley and Sherry, leading to a gentle finish of medium length with a subtle hint of smoke. May / August 2022

Nose of caramel, vanilla, oak, and a bit of pear; quite straightforward. Lightly sweet taste with pepper and spicy cinnamon. Served neat, it's rather one-note and hot for 80 proof, though it significantly improves with a little water, revealing richness, body, and sweet honey, truly enhancing the wine character.

It has a pale hay color. The aroma is reminiscent of rubber and a tire shop. It starts sweet, with brief notes of vanilla and cherry, followed by a sharp kick and a prolonged finish of spice and leather.

Somewhat underwhelming, lacking intriguing flavors and possessing a harshness that one might expect to be mellowed by a sherry cask.

The nose had notes of raisin, granola, and wine, while the palate offered a delightful mix of fig, nougat, raisin, and cookie, finishing with sweet caramel.

A brief initial sensation followed by a sweet, floral, mellow finish.
