Rating: 14/23 Nose: Less savory than the 'plata' version, but still a bit cheesy. It's lighter, with more spice and dustiness from the barrel. Faint vanilla and caramel. Definitely has a mineral quality. Palate: Sweet caramel, some pepper, a faint hint of cheese, and vanilla with a mineral note. Actually, there's a considerable amount of cheese. A touch of bitter herbal flavor and a lot of vegetal character (not spoiled, though). Finish: Mineral, sweet, licorice, vanilla, with a slight prickliness and some undercooked caramel. Cheese lingers on the long finish. A bit of bitter herbs and the vegetal character persists. - Conclusion - More complex and balanced than the 'plata' but has less character and is lighter. It still possesses significant character and plenty of complexity. I find it appealing, but it's unusual. I'm considering a score between 13 and 15. It's too peculiar to score higher. I'll give it a 15, but just barely. I truly appreciate the complexity. It might be a 14. I'm settling on 15. Actually, I'll go with a 14.
