About this bottle

This marks the inaugural bottled in bond whiskey release from Utah's High West Distillery, with subsequent limited annual releases anticipated. The straight rye whiskey was produced in a single season (July-December 2018) at High West's Distillery in Wanship, Utah, using a mash bill of 80% rye and 20% malted rye. It matured for a minimum of four years in a federally bonded warehouse and was bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof). Nationwide availability begins February 2024. Note: The batch number format, such as 23L19 H218, indicates the bottling date (e.g., December 19, 2023) and distillation period (e.g., second half of 2018). (SRP $79.99)

Judy Redding 4.0

The aroma offers wintergreen, sweet red berries, and oak. The taste, though, is a whole other story. Mint persists, but the palate takes on a darker character with dark fruit, pepper, and significant spice. It finishes with dry oak. I'm not entirely convinced it justifies the cost, but it does possess some appealing flavors.
