Nose - Begins somewhat herbal, like a haystack, almost like an unpeated Scotch. A very pronounced and pleasant sarsaparilla note is present. This shifts to vanilla and egg custard. There's also a candy corn quality, with a subtle evergreen scent deep in the background. A very intriguing and inviting aroma. Palate - Starts similarly to Stranahan's, with a pleasant caramel cream base. The viscosity is notable, coating the mouth without being syrupy. Ripe berries are followed by nutmeg, then the heat arrives with some of that hay character. Not a bad sip at all! Finish - The final caramel note persists, and the higher proof lets you know it's substantial. The only undesirable note is a slight new wood, workshop-like scent at the end. OVERALL - EXCELLENT WHISKEY. I was curious about this brand and can confirm it's a quality addition. The price is a bit high for being non-age-stated, but the craftsmanship is definitely evident. A winner for me.

Day No.13 Drinking this neat was an awakening regarding the intensity. I can typically handle high proof spirits well, but this was somewhat on the ethanol side. With the higher proof, I was expecting greater complexity. There was a significant herbal/grassy character from the smell to the taste. I added a little water, which amplified this while tempering the intensity. In addition to it becoming more palatable, I detected hints of baking spice. Sometimes these potent spirits need a bit of taming. A good example. It was an enjoyable experience nonetheless.

The aroma is full of sweet grass and hay, with faint hints of apple, raisin, citrus, and a touch of caramel. The first taste is sweet, with caramel and butterscotch flavors. It then shifts to an oaky taste with some bitterness, bringing back the grassy and hay notes from the aroma for the finish. There's a good amount of heat that lasts for a long finish. It doesn't have the usual bourbon flavor profile, but it's still an interesting and enjoyable drink.

An intriguing estate whiskey with an oily mouthfeel and a slightly gritty texture. It leans herbal but includes a touch of sweetness, confirming its bourbon identity. I appreciated exploring this pour, even though it falls outside my usual preferences.

Taste: Flavors of wood, bark, leather, and oak dominate. Hints of cookies emerge on subsequent sips. Finish: The high viscosity creates a full mouth coating. Lingering herbal and wet bark notes provide a long finish. A warming sensation is felt from the first sip.
