This review is for the "Why Rum When You Can Rye," group selection from Rochester, NY Elite Barrel Pickers. This was my first experience with both Grander and Panama rums, and I was immediately impressed by how well this column-distilled rum handled a 3-year rye barrel finish. I am interested in trying a single barrel expression with a less intense finish, and I've also heard excellent things about the Port finish, so I'll be on the lookout for that too. A thoroughly enjoyable rum that is sweet yet complex and oak-forward, which I plan to keep on my shelf.

Aromas of maple and fruit compote. Features muddled fruits and herbs. Smooth texture. Easy to drink.

Satisfactory overall. Quite spicy. Unpleasant lingering taste.
