Betty Quinlan 4.5

I enjoy port, so this is an interesting rum for me. It has the tawny appearance, though darker due to the rum, and a deep sniff reveals the aroma is undeniably port wine! I also detect smooth caramelly vanilla with a short, quick sniff. It possesses the sweetness and flavor of port as well. To me, this is more akin to drinking port than rum, but I'm not complaining at all. It's best as a sipper with a small ice cube to take the edge off the alcohol's burn. I can't imagine a mixed drink would taste good using this. Update: Mixed with Pepsi (I'm not a big Coke fan) it was acceptable... not great due to the port flavor, but not necessarily bad either. The port flavor is most distinct if the sip isn't held in the mouth for long. The longer it's kept inside, the more caramel flavors dominate the port. Honestly, a 2oz. snifter is simply insufficient!:-D Rating is based on neat sipping.

Dean Galvin 4.5

Special 15-year-old editions aged in Oloroso sherry, Cognac, and Port Tawny barrels offered a global tasting experience. Unlike many whiskey releases, the finish here significantly influenced the drink's profile, allowing for enjoyable discovery of subtle notes.

Ashley Crowell 4.0

Quite enjoyable. The port influence is present but not overwhelming or dominating the rum. An excellent selection, though I'm uncertain if it justifies the suggested retail price.

Grady Apodaca 3.0

Very pleasant, but it doesn't offer significant distinctions compared to the less expensive classic Abuelo 12 Year Old.

Amir Bassett 4.3

The nose definitely suggests port. Some cinnamon and banana on the finish. A light woody aftertaste. Delicious.

Dorian Dietrich 4.3

Silky texture with notes of raisin, mild acidity, subtle nose, and a medium-length finish.
