A woody aroma and like a latte macchiato. Tastes of wood, dark bitter chocolate, toffee, and roasted nuts. Excellent rum, but too harsh for my preference. This is a superb whiskey to enjoy with a cigar, however.

About this bottle
Don Pancho Origenes 18 Year is a rum blend where each component has spent at least 18 years in American oak barrels originating from Kentucky. The master blender and distiller, Francisco Jose Fernandez Perez, known as "Don Pancho," possesses over five decades of expertise. He established his own distillery, aging, and blending facility in Panama after discovering an ideal combination of sugar quality and maturation conditions. The spirit is processed using a copper column still, believed to be the last operational one of its type globally. The extensive aging process is continuously overseen, with the age statement indicating the minimum duration each rum in the blend has matured.

Tobacco and leather on the nose, which persisted on the palate. The finish was smooth, featuring leather and cacao. An excellent drink for sipping.
Remarkable depth of flavor. Clearly contains added sugar. My estimation is around 25 g/L. Pecans are present on the finish.
Quite piquant. Nearly black pepper from the wood. It bore a resemblance to a blanco tequila.
Tasted neat some time ago, thanks to a distributor acquaintance!
Did not enjoy it much tonight. My palate might have been off.
