This Planteray Panama 2008 is one of six limited edition rums in Planteray Rum's "Under the Sea" Vintage Collection No. 2. Each rum in the collection, featuring local marine life on the packaging, is distilled and aged in its origin country before undergoing a secondary aging period in southwest France, a signature of the brand. The Panama 2008 vintage was distilled at Alcoholes del Istmo Distillery using column stills. After 12 years of aging in ex-bourbon barrels, it was moved to France for an additional year of maturation. The label depicts a humpback whale, and only 19 casks were produced. US availability begins in May 2023 with a suggested retail price of $80.

Brown sugar, cola, and spices are detected on the nose. The taste follows suit, with added caramel and a whisper of insect repellent. It's remarkably smooth and leaves a pleasing warmth.
