Ferrand 10 Générations Cognac

Let sit for about 5 minutes. Appearance: Very pale ocher, at first glance definitely looks more oily and viscous than other cognac I've seen, legs are substantial; Aroma: Immediate whiffs of Mott's apple juice, sweet sugary scents, jam; Taste: The same sweetness you smell you end up tasting, some flecks of sugar and grape (not Mott's), fruity notes abound throughout the palate; Finish: Ethanol hits you at the very end, medium finish that dissipates, typical cognac sweetness.

Harsh, raw oak tannins dominate from taste to finish. The sauternes influence provides an extra intense dessert wine character but is otherwise indistinct from the ugni blanc base. Notes include sultana raisins, cedar, almonds, poached red apple, dried apricots, mild white peach, licorice, herbal notes, nutmeg, a pinch of clove, and an unusual nuttiness reminiscent of a scotch ale. It's a bit too delicate compared to ferrand amber. Underwhelming.

Lively scent of grape spirit, refined with a touch of wood. A fantastic opening on the palate, revealing a rich and vivid taste of deep grape eau de vie, robust and well-aged wood from the barrel, and a delicately floral middle section adding a zest to the entire experience. Comforting, very drinkable, and ideal for savoring neat or incorporating into traditional cocktails needing a dependable base.

It's like a captivating lady of high standing meeting a regular guy. The allure isn't just in the obvious; it's also in the hidden aspects. That persistent enigma keeps you coming back for another taste.

Strong woody notes on the nose. Astonishingly smooth on the palate! Rich dried apricot and pear melt into a finish of golden raisins. Wonderful!

Aromas of apricots, peaches, spice, caramel, and malt. Flavors are similar to the nose, sweet with a jammy full texture. Very nice.
