St. Rémy Signature Brandy

The color makes me question if caramel coloring has been added. I bought a couple of bottles of this for a clarified milk punch. My initial tasting and other reviews suggest this will make a fine punch. It definitely has that brandy taste indicative of raisins and wine. Still, it's a bit tannic overall, but only to the extent that I would be the one complaining. I suppose this is an effort to overcome the poor reputation brandy has among younger people. Generally, it's not bad, especially considering the limited brandy selections available in most places.

Aromas of grape jelly, cinnamon, marmalade, vanilla, toasted coconut, and almond. Flavors include more grape jelly, vanilla, marmalade, and toasted coconut, plus hazelnut and milk chocolate. Rich mouthfeel and a sweet profile overall. The finish is medium-length. 3.25/5.00 – Quite Good (neat)

Is this St-Rémy reborn? It's an intriguing bottling, certainly more oaky and fruity, showing a younger character. However, it's a bit contradictory... It's a "premium" product but also intended for cocktails, yet it carries a higher price tag than traditional versions.

Young aroma, showing notes of raisins, caramel, soy sauce, toasted grain, and leather, along with pear. The palate is also young. It's sweet and slightly peppery, with raisin, leather, vanilla, caramel, powdered sugar, and orange notes. The finish has a light pepperiness. It's quite basic, with a bit of heat at the end.

I bought this for making mulled wine during the holidays. It's a great option for mixing in batch cocktails if you prefer not to use your premium cognac. While it's definitely lighter than the Courvoisier VS I usually sip, it offers similar sweet, oaky, and peppery notes. It works wonderfully!

This is a very light and smooth spirit, perfect for someone new to brandy. Mild and easygoing, it lacks any harshness. Gently oaky with warm caramel notes, this is an ideal brandy for cocktails or holiday punches.
