[12.25.23] Another Christmas and another dram enjoyed with my father-in-law. This year's offering features another sherry cask, presented at a slightly higher proof (over 80 proof is definitely a popular marketing trend now). Sherry casks remain superior, but an Irish whiskey like this is a bit unremarkable to truly appreciate its value. It's smoother and softer on the palate with a subtle red wine undertone (this would pair well with Christmas chocolate), but there's a slightly chemical aftertaste that might deter me from drinking much. This particular spirit would be excellent in a Dublin-inspired cranberry cocktail for the holiday season.

I sampled this neat a while back, courtesy of my distributor friend, Tanya! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take notes at the time.
Very easy to drink. Sweet with just a hint of spice. Vanilla on the nose.
The initial aroma is oak with subtle caramel notes. The alcohol content provides a strong burn.
