Douglas Laing Double Barrel Ardbeg & Glenrothes 10yo

A premium blend combines two single casks from renowned distilleries into a limited "vatted malt." Several of these releases have been encountered, and a few have been acquired. This particular bottling is an intriguing experiment, merging an Ardbeg with a Glenrothes, aged for 10 years and bottled at 46% alcohol by volume. The nose reveals unmistakable traces of Ardbeg's character. A powerful black pepper presence, tangerine, and the characteristic herbal note of the 10-year-old Ardbeg are present. Pineapple, ash, and meringue notes are also detected. The palate offers just three distinct flavors, but they are presented exceptionally well: sugar, pineapple, and vanilla. The finish is spicy and peaty, with notes of black pepper, smoke, and cardamom. Overall, this is a very direct, smoky spirit that is genuinely delightful. It's not overly complex, but it delivers effectively. This is actually a recommendation for individuals due to its excellent value for a delicious spirit.
